Special Monthly Compensation (SMC) is an extraordinarily complex area of veterans’ law, particularly at the higher levels. It transcends mere disability ratings, delving into intricate criteria such as functional limitations and self-care capability. Navigating the rules and interpretations of SMC can sometimes feel like threading through a twisting maze, leaving advocates grappling with its complexities.

In this comprehensive two-part webinar series, we’ll meticulously unravel those complexities. Whether you’re a seasoned practitioner or a newcomer, you will gain essential information to navigate the full spectrum of VA compensation benefits.

Webinar Details

Part 1: Foundations of Special Monthly Compensation

In the first installment, we’ll delve into the foundational aspects of SMC. We will cover eligibility for loss of use; housebound status; aid and attendance.

Part 2: Navigating SMC Complexity

In the second part, we’ll dive deeper into the intricacies of SMC. Join us as we explore different levels of loss and the impact on SMC entitlement; intermediate SMC rates; special aid and attendance; and strategies for maximizing SMC.  We will also provide you with comprehensive resources, to include a convenient reference guide and SMC calculator to assist you in assessing potential entitlement.
