With VA’s removal of public-facing DBQs, the trend toward more contract examinations, and an ongoing pandemic, preparing your clients for VA examinations is more challenging than ever. Join NOVA member and former VA Physician Assistant Bethanie Spangenberg as she discusses the current climate at VA and describes the best ways to prepare your clients for a compensation and pension (C&P) examination, whether in person or virtual.
Bethanie Spangenberg is the President of Valor 4 Vet, a Physician Assistant, and an Accredited VA Agent. Bethanie has worked in the federal and civilian sectors of medicine in Ohio and Arizona. Her 10+ years of experience as a Physician Assistant encompasses multiple fields of practice to include Adult Family Practice, Compensation and Pension at the VA, Geriatrics and Dementia Care, Occupational Health, Urgent Care, and Workers Compensation. Bethanie is a certified examiner for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. She also served on VA’s Former Prisoners of War (FPOW) Committee and specialized in FPOW disability exams.
Bethanie received her Bachelor of Science with Physician Assistant Emphasis in 2009 from The University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio. She began her professional career in 2010 as a Certified Physician Assistant for VA and in 2013 completed her Master of Science through A.T. Still University in Mesa, Arizona. In 2017, she became an Accredited VA Agent. Bethanie is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, Academy of Physician Assistants in Legal Medicine, and National Organization of Veterans’ Advocates.
