My practice focuses on Mental Disorder Claims. Many Veterans have Mental Disorder impairments which source from physical injuries and, of course, we work that part of the case up along with the Mental Disorder. Mental Disorders can come from direct experiences of trauma (common with PTSD) or as a consequence of enduring chronic pain from physical injuries (which frequently leads to disabling Depression). Trauma Brain Injuries (TBI) are more complex because they usually involve both physical and mental symptoms.
I am not a Veteran. I think the prospective client may want to know this so I make it known at first meeting. While I have not endured combat I have suffered from both psychological and physical trauma in civilian life which gives me great empathy for the Veteran who suffers from Mental Disorders, whether that is PTSD, generalized anxiety, TBI, or Depression.
