Congratulations to Katy Whalen, NOVA's Director of Operations, who was presented the President’s Award by NOVA Board President Christine Clemens at NOVA’s 2026 Spring Conference!
This award recognizes a NOVA member or employee for distinguished service and extraordinary contributions above and beyond normal expectations, as well as long-standing commitment to the association.
For more than a decade, Katy has played a central role in strengthening NOVA’s programs and operations. Over the past 13 years, she has worked closely with board members, committee leaders, and the broader membership to expand the organization’s impact and reach.
Her contributions span many areas of NOVA’s work, including managing continuing legal education (CLE) for hundreds of participants, coordinating conferences and webinars, maintaining the organization’s website, and serving as a key point of contact for members, non-members, and veterans seeking assistance. She has also been instrumental in developing and supporting NOVA’s mentorship program from the ground up.
Known to many conference attendees for her signature presence keeping sessions on track, Katy brings consistency, care, and attention to detail to everything she does.
Her dedication, compassion, and behind-the-scenes leadership have helped strengthen NOVA’s operations and enhance service to both its members and the veterans it serves—making her contributions truly foundational to the organization’s success.
